How about an update on how the kids are doing?

My son is almost 14 - his birthday is June 1. His voice is changing, he's growing hair on his face, and he has temper fits like pets have fleas. Hopefully that last part is a passing thing.

Aaron's been spending a lot of time with a boy he met recently... another boy who's homeschooled! This is a first. His best friend has been grounded for weeks for one thing or another... I heard most recently for stealing coffee beans from the machine at the store.

The new friend likes to fish and Aaron is also getting into that. We live right next to a river.. so this is convenient, I guess you could say. They also like to mow lawns and fix bikes together.

Aaron's learning to fill out a job application this month. He still hates writing and acts like I'm torturing him to ask him to use a pencil, but he's at least making progress. I told him he needs to fill out the same details at least three or four times to develop neuro-pathways. He understands that and appreciates the use of a scientific term.

He's also about midway in a room-painting project. He's painting his ceiling blue and his walls bright yellow. This makes the room so much more pleasant! It was an ugly old green before.

My daughter started painting her room today too. So far she's just priming the walls. We haven't bought her paint yet.. but it will be three shades of lavender. She'll be applying it with a textured roller so it all blends together to look something like stucco.

She's also got a new website started.. not much there yet. I'm not planning to give out the URI this early in the game.

She says she wants to go back to highschool next year. I am sorry to say, in her case this could be a good idea at this point. She's been so lonely. Her best friend got in some trouble and was moved out of town by a CPS caseworker... it is very sad. So my daughter needs new friends and I think she's finally mature enough that she could handle herself well at the school. We'll see how that goes.

Enough of this for today.
