The hearing outcome... is that there won't be a hearing for us after all. After looking at my request letter and the one sent to them by the lawyer that works with the
California Homeschool Network, my county decided to back off and become homeschool-friendly again. It may help that I sent copies of our letters to my local county supervisor to let her know what the human services department was up to. Ever since I've moved to this county I've had one human services problem after another. I believe its because they don't like my
Fight CPS And Win website and because I've
written about my views in letters printed in the local newspapers.
I thank God for leading me in the right direction on this. While I was doing my hearing preparation documentation I was inspired several times with the thought to forward the information to my county supervisor. She acted on this right away and saved me the trouble of having to go to the hearing. I am relieved - the last thing I really want to do is have to get involved in a lawsuit against the county. I happen to love this county - I love living here in the mountains, in this forest, with these people. And I want to spend my time taking care of my kids and doing my
writing, not in plotting courtroom strategies.
One good thing that came of this is my new
homeschool website (under development) which will have information I've picked up during my study of homeschooling legalities here due to this hearing.
