I can't believe it - I haven't written in this weblog for ten days! Well, here's some of the things we've been doing lately...

Keith is still reading to Cimeron from the Veterinary Technician book - something that will probably go on for a long time since it is a very thick book.

We re-subscribed to the Yreka newspaper and so he is now reading to them from it and discussing current events with them every school day.

We discovered that there's a bicycle school in Ashland... apparently one of the best such schools in the nation: The United Bicycle Institute... it looks like it may be a good opportunity for Aaron to become more professional at bike repair, but the cost of tuition is more than we can afford right now. We hope that by the time he is 16 we can afford to send him to classes there. They take students at 14 but 16 is better they say.

We're going to order a GED preparation book and use it to get the kids up to the level they would have to be at to pass the test.

Besides all this......... Cimeron has been practicing typing. She has finished the pre-tests at the Saxon website and we're planning to buy her a new Saxon math textbook. She still works with her grammar and spelling books regularly and is doing well on that. Aaron is reading much more fluently now. He got behind after Christmas break. Just taking a week off made it really hard for him to get back up to speed again. I think he needs to keep reading daily, despite weekends and vacations... but we're still not making him read on weekends. He's been doing multiplication practice. Until he's got the multiplication tables memorized there's not much point in going on to something else.

I'm sure there's more that I've forgotten to tell you about. Keith reads to them from Dear Mad'am and recently read my grandmother's memoirs to them during school time. It was fun to read what she wrote about her childhood.
